Founder & CEO

Kristina Pakhomchik is a businesswoman, philosopher of technology, and advocate for human rights in the digital sphere. She has extensive experience in both industry and academia, her research focusing on the impact of technology on users, and in industry, she has collaborated with organisations including IBM, the UN and BP. In her advocacy work, she has spoken at many international events and has given a TedX Talk on the topic of Privacy and Emotions. After years in the field, Kristina realised something striking: even professionals struggle to protect their own privacy and autonomy in the digital world. If it’s overwhelming for experts on a personal level, how difficult must it be for regular users? That insight inspired the current direction for Data Action.

Our Story & Mission

Our Story

We started in the University of Vienna’s incubator, iLab, exploring how to tackle the enormous challenges posed by emerging technologies — challenges so big they feel almost like a global crisis.  Initially, we worked with companies to encourage ethical AI implementation and avoid penalties, but over time we realised our true focus had to be on empowering individuals.
Today, we’re building tools, training, and platforms that give everyday people the ability to understand, manage, and benefit from their own data. We believe that people care about privacy and autonomy, and that they have the resources and power to shape the future of technology. Our job is to make that easier, clearer, and more accessible.

Our Vision

To give people the tools to shape the values that information technology brings to our lives.

Our Mission

Be the leader in bringing people fun and easy tools for personal privacy and increasing autonomy in the digital sphere – one step at time.
